I've been building software for over 30 years. In that time, I've seen a lot of "next big things" come and go. Most of them weren't. Some of them were.
AI-powered presentations? This one's real.
But we're not building Flow2 because AI is trendy. We're building it because we've spent the last 12 years learning exactly what makes presentations work - and AI is the missing piece that lets us deliver on that vision at scale.
Let me tell you how we got here.
2012: The iPad Changed Everything
When the iPad launched, I saw something most people missed. Everyone was talking about consumption - reading, watching, browsing. I was thinking about creation.
The iPad was the first device that let you hold a presentation in your hands. Not sit in front of a laptop. Not stand behind a podium. Hold it. Walk around a room with it. Hand it to someone. Set it on a counter.
That insight became Flowboard.
We launched on April 18, 2013, after almost a year of development. The idea was simple but radical for the time: presentation software built from the ground up for touch. Not PowerPoint ported to a tablet. Not slides crammed into a small screen. Something fundamentally new.
Interactive presentations. Tap to navigate. Embed videos that play inline. Link between screens like an app. Present without a projector.
People got it immediately. Teachers used Flowboard for interactive lessons. Real estate agents built property walkthroughs. Museums created touchscreen exhibits. Sales teams carried their entire pitch on an iPad instead of lugging a laptop and hoping the conference room had the right cable.
FlowVella: Growing Up
We renamed to FlowVella and expanded to Mac, then to the web. The core vision never changed: presentations should be interactive, not just informational. They should feel alive, not like a stack of printed pages.
Over the years, we found our sweet spots. Kiosks became a huge use case - museums, trade shows, retail environments where you need a presentation that runs unattended, looks gorgeous, and doesn't crash. Education was another. And sales, always sales.
We weren't the biggest. We weren't the flashiest. But we had something the big players didn't: a deep, almost obsessive understanding of how presentations work in the real world. Not just on a screen in a meeting, but in someone's hands at a booth, on a wall in a museum, on a tablet at a front desk.
That knowledge - earned over more than a decade and millions of presentations - is what makes Flow2 different from every other AI presentation tool launching today.
The AI Wave: Why Now?
I'll be honest. When the first wave of AI presentation tools launched in 2022 and 2023, I was skeptical. Not of the technology - I could see the potential. But of the approach.
Every new tool was doing the same thing: type a prompt, get slides. Fast, sure. But the output was generic. Every deck looked the same. The "AI" was mostly just templating with better autocomplete. And the presentations themselves were still just... slides. Static. Linear. Click-next-click-next-click-next.
That's not what we spent 12 years building. We built interactive experiences. AI-generated slides are a starting point, not the destination.
So we waited. We watched. We learned from what the first movers got right and what they got wrong.
Here's what they got right: people want to go from idea to presentation in minutes, not hours. The AI generation step is genuinely valuable. No one should start with a blank screen anymore.
Here's what they got wrong: they stopped at generation. Type a prompt, get a deck, share a link. Done. But the generated decks are mediocre. They all look the same. They don't adapt to how people actually present - on phones, on tablets, on kiosks, in person. And they're not interactive. They're digital paper.
That's the gap Flow2 fills.
What Flow2 Actually Is
Flow2 combines three things that, as far as we know, no one else has together:
1. Genuine AI generation. Type a prompt and get a complete interactive flow - content, images, structure - in seconds.
2. Mobile-first by design. Not responsive - mobile-first. We create vertical, scrollable, full-screen experiences optimized for phones. Your audience taps a link and gets something that feels like a native app, not a shrunken slide deck. No download, no login, no friction.
3. Twelve years of presentation DNA. The output isn't generic slides. It's interactive, multimedia-rich content built on the same engine that powers FlowVella presentations in museums, boardrooms, and classrooms around the world.
We're rolling out mobile-first, with a full desktop editor coming soon. Why? Because that's where your audience is. Nobody forwards a PowerPoint to their phone and thinks "wow, great experience." Flow2 links are the experience.
When Flow2 generates a flow, it doesn't just arrange text and images on rectangles. It creates something you can navigate. Something that works beautifully on the screen in your pocket. Something that includes navigation links, embedded media, and the kind of interactive elements we've spent over a decade perfecting.
Think of it this way: most AI presentation tools are like AI that learned to write by reading Wikipedia. Technically competent, but flat. Flow2 is like AI that learned to present by watching thousands of real presentations in real rooms with real audiences. It knows what works.
Why "Flow2"?
Sharp-eyed readers might notice the name. We started as Flowboard in 2013 and became FlowVella. But the Flowboard document - the interactive, multimedia canvas at the heart of everything we build - never went away.
It’s been the core format powering every presentation, kiosk exhibit, and interactive experience for over a decade. Millions of Flowboard documents created, viewed, and shared. The format proved itself in the real world, in ways we never originally imagined.
Flow2 takes that proven document format and reimagines it for the AI era. Same interactive DNA. Same multimedia richness. Now created in seconds with AI, optimized for mobile, and shareable with a link.
FlowVella isn’t going anywhere. It continues to serve the kiosk, education, and enterprise customers who depend on it. Flow2 is the next chapter - AI-first, web-first, built for the way people create and share ideas in 2026.
Who This Is For
We're not trying to be everything to everyone. Here's who we're building Flow2 for:
Professionals who present for a living. Sales teams, consultants, trainers - people who need presentations that stand out, work on any device, and don't look like everyone else's AI-generated deck.
Educators who want engagement. Static slides put students to sleep. Interactive presentations wake them up. Flow2 makes it easy to create the kind of engaging, multimedia-rich content that actually holds attention.
Businesses that need kiosks and displays. This is our superpower. If you need a presentation running on an iPad at a reception desk, a touchscreen in a museum, or a display at a trade show, Flow2 produces content that's built for that from the start.
Anyone tired of the "AI presentation look." You know what I mean. The same stock images, the same layout patterns, the same generic feel. If you want your AI-generated presentation to look like yours, not like everyone else's, that's what we're building.
The Competitive Landscape
I'm not going to pretend the market isn't crowded. Gamma has millions of users. Canva has over 150 million. Google is baking AI into Slides. Beautiful.ai, Tome, and a dozen others are all competing for the same market.
(For our honest take on how everyone compares, read our AI presentation maker comparison.)
But here's what I've learned in 30+ years of building software: the first wave of tools in any new category almost never gets it right. They get attention. They get users. But they solve the surface-level problem - in this case, "make slides fast" - without solving the deeper one.
The deeper problem is: how do you communicate ideas effectively?
Speed is part of it. But so is design. So is interactivity. So is working seamlessly on every device. So is looking distinctive instead of generic. So is the kind of polish that only comes from years of understanding the craft.
We've been working on that deeper problem since 2012. AI is the tool that finally lets us solve it for everyone.
What's Next
Flow2 is live at flow2.co. Right now we're laser-focused on the mobile experience - creating the best interactive content you can share via a simple link. A full desktop editor is coming soon.
Every new account gets 75 AI credits free - enough for about 5 complete flows. AI refinements (rewriting, adjusting, improving) are always free. See our pricing →
We were early to interactive presentations. We were early to mobile-first creation. We were early to kiosk software. And yes, we were a little late to AI.
But in software, being slightly late with the right product beats being first with the wrong one. Every time.
