Why I built Flow2

Why I built Flow2

A founder's journey from AI to mobile-first

Why I built Flow2

I set out to build FlowboardAI.

I set out to build FlowboardAI.

Add AI to everything we'd built?

10+ years. 500k users. Kiosks around the world. AI was the obvious next step.

Add AI to everything we'd built?

We started designing the full experience.

Generation, editing, chat. The full AI presentation product.

We started designing the full experience.

Then we asked how these presentations should look on a phone.

Everything changed in that moment. I posted on X that morning: "one prompt changed my life... it changed the trajectory of our value prop immediately."

Then we asked how these presentations should look on a phone.

For years, the mobile viewing experience has been an afterthough

A responsive shrink. A PDF in a thumb. It deserved to be the main event.

For years, the mobile viewing experience has been an afterthough

The mobile experience isn't a feature of the presentation.

The mobile experience IS the presentation.

The mobile experience isn't a feature of the presentation.

I left town for four weeks.

Family. Meetings. Some fun. Phone in my pocket the whole time. I kept iterating, iterating, iterating on the mobile viewing experience that I and everyone deserved.

I left town for four weeks.

I came back and threw away the desktop editor.

Rebuilt from the phone, for the phone. Mobile player. Mobile editor. Mobile authoring.

I came back and threw away the desktop editor.

Then we threw away the FlowboardAI name.

What we built wasn't FlowVella or Flowboard with AI bolted on.  It was something different. Something new.

Introducing Flow2

Then we threw away the FlowboardAI name.
