The Failure Part Is Not a Theory
Documented Failure
USSS denied extra assets for Trump's campaign detail — documented, not rumored
AGR: elevated, close, clear sightline, left outside the magnetometer perimeter

Radio nets and text threads did not move the threat to the protectee in time
Discipline afterward: few firings, reduced punishments
Incompetence at this scale is historically common. It is also historically how plots hide. Both things can be said without picking one.

A theory is interesting if it predicts facts we have AND facts we can find. A theory that only explains vibes is fan fiction.
Was It Staged?
Theory A
The claim: shots were never meant to kill; the martyr photo and the fist were the product.
FOR: Enormous political payoff. Near-perfect imagery. Miss was millimeters.
AGAINST: Three real people shot, one dead. Thousands of witnesses, independent cameras, bodycam, Meta glasses footage.
AGAINST: Staging a live round that close to a candidate's head is an insane operational risk — one twitch ends the nominee.
VERDICT: A real attempt + a photogenic reflex + a campaign that knew how to use an image ≠ manufactured attempt
Was There a Stand-Down?
Theory B
The claim: Crooks was real, bullets were real, but protection was deliberately degraded.
FOR: Resource denials are documented. AGR was an obvious problem left open. Warnings existed in time.
AGAINST: No whistleblower, no named plotter — not even from Trump-aligned congressional probes.
AGAINST: The same USSS stopped a later Florida attempt — fits 'Butler was badly run,' not 'assassination bureau.'
GRAY ZONE: Politicized under-resourcing + bureaucratic cowardice can look like a stand-down without a single order
Second Shooter? Foreign Hand?
Theories C & D
SECOND SHOOTER — FOR: A hat hole flagged in the House report; audio confusion; unresolved trajectory gaps.
SECOND SHOOTER — AGAINST: Eight casings recovered by FBI; no second rifle, body, or firing position found.
IRAN — FOR: Tehran had motive; U.S. agencies hunted for the link aggressively.
IRAN — AGAINST: No payment, no handler traffic, no claim of responsibility survived forensics. FBI: no credible evidence.
Keep the file open. Do not promote a ghost to a fact.
Is the Cover-Up the Tell?

FOR: Motive officially 'unknown' years later — rare for a case this high-profile
FOR: Congress accused FBI of withholding Crooks' online archive. That's a process scandal regardless of what's inside.
AGAINST: 'They haven't published the hard drive' ≠ 'they fabricated the shooter.'
AGAINST: If a handler were buried in that archive, Washington leaks that kind of secret
The legitimate demand is full transparency on Crooks' devices and USSS radio records. That demand does not require a puppet master.

How to Think
FAILURE MODE 1: 'Lone wolf + sloppy cops, move on' — ignores documented resource decisions and how often that's the first draft
FAILURE MODE 2: Every gap is a signature — ignores that complex systems fail in public, on video, without a committee
BETTER TEST: What document or artifact would change your mind? If nothing would, you're not investigating.
The most defensible sentence: a 20-year-old exploited a security architecture that had already decided the roof didn't matter. Whether that was lazy, political, or criminal is the actual fight.
